Intel comes out fighting in the Tablet CPU battle.

Intel have just laid bare the full specifications of their latest offerings in the battle for tablet based CPU's. More accurately these components are called SoC's or Systems on Chip because they are in fact a complete system.

The two Intel Atom branded SoC's are the Z650 and the Z670. The big brother of the two, the Z670 has a whopping 1500 MHZ clock speed with a tiny 3W TDP. Remember this includes an on-chip GPU as well.

Have a look at the full specifications of the Atom Z650 and Z670. The difference is that the junior model is clocked at 1200MHZ. Which-Laptop.com rate both SoC equally for energy efficiency at 100%. The best rating any CPU (SoC) can get. For comparison purposes the iPad 2 CPU gets 96%.

Despite the recent announcement the Z670 is already being used by Samsung in their soon to be released and rather nifty looking Samsung PC 7.
